About me: Lindsay Stanley

I am a passionate and enthusiastic Soft Tissue Therapist, and hold an accredited Level 5 diploma in ‘Soft Tissue Therapy (Sports and Remedial Massage)’, awarded by the highly-acclaimed Oxford School of Sports Massage (OSSM). I’m an active person (I would spend every day on a bike if I could, as well as loving walking in our beautiful countryside and training in martial arts), and I love using my knowledge of the body to enable others to be the same.

I originally trained as an engineer, holding a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, however my fascination with the workings of the body and my desire to help people to move and feel better drew me towards a career in Soft Tissue Therapy. So many people live with on-going issues and long-term pain without knowing that there may be a solution, and that they can be mobile, active, pain-free and focussing on the better things in life than pain and limitations.

I chose to train to Level 5, the highest level available for sports massage and soft tissue therapy, because I wanted to do more than just treat someone’s symptoms – I wanted to understand the cause and fix the problem. I didn’t want a basic qualification in sports massage, limiting me to simply treating a client’s tight muscles. I trained for a full year with OSSM’s comprehensive and detailed diploma, excelling throughout the course and consistently achieving top marks and excellent feedback from my tutors and assessors. This has given me the tools and understanding, as well as the passion, to dig deeper into the source of an issue and find the solution to solve it.

I take enormous pride in my work, and seeing the positive change in someone I have treated is hugely rewarding. I have treated clients with a large and varied range of issues and goals, from people suffering with debilitating headaches and back pain due to postural issues and the stresses of working life; to athletes training for ultra-running and cycling events who want to perform better and recover faster.

Every client is different and I relish the challenge of finding the most effective method of treating them. Knowing that someone I have treated is free from the pain which has been holding them back for months or years; or who has performed beyond their expectations in an event or sport, is the greatest reward that I could ask for.
